Thing 15- Voicethread

Ok. This is by far the coolest yet! They keep getting better. I am going to try and make one this weekend. We are doing an art project in Spanish and this would be amazing to use. I requested an educator account. I'm so excited about this!

Thing 14-Wiki

I would really like to learn more about moodle and implement it in the classroom. I think that would be amazing! I actually set up a wetpaint wiki but I think I will go with wikispaces for educators because this one does have way too many ads.

So in summary, I think Moodle could be extremely valuable in our department but we need some training on it. I hope to start a wiki or something up for my blog soon.

I love animoto! I could totally use this in class. It is ridiculously easy. I think it would be fun to take videos from other countries. I did email for an educator code and never heard back from them unfortunately. This would actually be a great idea for a final project. I just assigned an art project and I wish I would have had them do something like this with their art instead.

Thing 12

I like the creative commons site. I actually just did a project where my students submitted videos to promote foreign language learning. They were not allowed to use music that was copyrighted. This would have been amazing to use. I think it could definitely help them understand copyright laws...I think it coud help me as well.

Thing 11-Good Reads

Love this one. I have been a member for a few years now. I love seeing what my friends have read. My user name is mauritzenj. I would love to use it within our school to see what others are reading. I feel like I am always behind the coolest new book. I am a huge fan of reading books in Spanish so it ends up taking me 10 times longer. I always get so much out of them though. I love good reads.

Thing 10-Ning

I remember when the first chat rooms came out. It was a black screen with green type. Now, I can't believe I can have my own social network. I might use this in the class. I definitely don't think I would use facebook but I think a little more after looking at it that it could actually be cool to create a virtual Spanish forum. I think it is really neat. As an educator I'm sure we could really use it to connect to our colleagues.

Thing 8...after a long break

So I just posted some pictures on my flickr account. It is under senorajm. This was fairly easy to do. I think Flickr could be really useful for trips abroad and things as a sharing site. I haven't done much where I would share many of my personal pictures with my students but perhaps in my future travels I will need to do so. It was fairly simple.

Thing 7-Google Reader

This is neat. I have always been a fan of having blog updates emailed to me but this is also really nice. I am subscribed to all of the blogs that I am following plus educationweek, nytimes, npr and sup teach?, google reader staff picks and Thomas Friedman. It will keep me busy at least.

I think this was ridiculously easy! I can't believe how long it used to take me to make a website and this took me under 40 minutes. I think if I had a purpose for my website I could have had more of a plan. However, now that I know how easy it is I can create lessons/webquests without thinking it will be a huge pain. This was really simple and I definitely will use it again.

I'm wondering how much I will use Twitter. My name is SpanishtweetsJM. I am following Nichola Kristof-author of Half the Sky and New York Times columist. I am following Jillian Michaels in hopes of getting inspired to work out directly after school and J.K Rowling in an attempt to get inspired to write my first very children's novel.

I will have to spend more time Tweeting. I think it might be neat to have a class twitter account. I think it would be especially useful for my Spanish classes. I think they wouldn't feel so intimidated to write a few sentences. I will have to figure out how to do accent marks.

The Calendar is nice but I think I am better with writing things on my hand for organizing at the moment. I actually need to find some system that works for me. This year I bought 5 calendars and I don't use any of them! Something has to give.

Yum: Delicious Thing 3

So far I love Delicious. By the way my name is SpanishJess for lack of any creativity in case anyone wants to add me to their bookmarks. Oddly enough I was trying to add the 17things website to my favorites and cursing my lack of organization in the favorites when I stumbled on thing 4! How great! I have to add a few more people and links...but this Delicious is heaven to those of us without great organizational skills. I only wish that the button would stay on our website at school!
